Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT)
I. Overview of DGUT
Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) is the only model university of novel high-level science and engineering jointly constructed by Guangdong Province and Dongguan City. It is the first public full-time regular university in Dongguan, and we are proud to have Dr. Chenning Yang, a Nobel Laureate in Physics, leading us as our Honorary President. Work on establishing DGUT commenced in 1990 and it was finally established in April 1992. DGUT was listed among the initial institutions for national “Outstanding Engineers Cultivation Project” and has risen to a level of being one among the “first-group” of local universities.
DGUT has established a unique discipline and major structure with engineering as the focus and coordinated development of management, literature, science, economics, law, education, and other disciplines. The university has 20 colleges and 59 undergraduate programs. 14 programs have been selected in the batch of national first-class programs, they are: Communication Engineering, Software Engineering, Social Work, Electronic Information Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Computer Science and Technology, Applied Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration,Energy and Power Engineering, International Economics and Trade, Industrial engineering, Automation and Accountancy. 14 programs have been selected as first-class programs in Guangdong Province, they are Engineering Management, Chinese Language and Literature, Human Resources Management,Jurisprudence,Primary Education,English Language and Literature,Radio and Television,Material Forming and Control Engineering,Industrial design, Polymer materials and engineering, Optoelectronic information science and engineering, Network engineering, Civil engineering, Chemical engineering and technology。
DGUT has two campuses, in Songshan Lake and Guancheng, covering a total area of 351 acres (including 61 acres of international collaboration and innovation zone). There are approximately 20,000 full-time students in the university and about 120,000 local students have been trained so far, with 80% of graduated worked or started their business in Dongguan. Since the recruitment of international students commenced in May 2016, a total of more than 400 international students from more than 40 countries have enrolled at DGUT.
II.Overview of Dongguan
As a pioneer in the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, Dongguan is in South China, in south-central Guangdong Province, on the eastern coast of the Pearl River Estuary. It is located northwest of Guangzhou, south of Shenzhen, and northeast of Huizhou. It is one of the central cities in the Pearl River Delta, one of the cities in “the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, one of the Shenzhen Metropolitan Circle Cities, and is the first of “the four tigers in Guangdong”. It is an important transportation hub and foreign trade port in Guangdong.
Dongguan has a subtropical climate, with plenty of sunshine and rain, and an average temperature of 22.30 ℃. It is endowed with a spectacular landscape of lakes and mountains. With forest coverage of 36.7%, and 98.7% woodland greenery, it is truly an international garden city.
III. Education Modes for International Students
1.Master’s degree higher education
Includes an academic degree and a professional degree. The mode of study is full-time. Students undergo a three-year study program, with the program starting each September. Students who complete the requirements specified by the University and pass the oral defense of their graduation thesis can obtain a diploma, and students who meet requirements for being awarded a master’s degree can obtain the master’s degree.
2. Undergraduate education with bachelor’s degree
The mode of study is full-time. Students undergo a four-year study program, with the program commencing each September. Students who complete the teaching modules specified in the teaching plan and pass the oral defense of their graduation thesis can obtain the diploma, and students who meet requirements for award of the bachelor’s degree can obtain the bachelor’s degree.
3.Language training
The term starts every March and September. Students are divided into different classes according to their Chinese language proficiency level.
4.Short-term Chinese language and culture project
This education mode allows students to acquire a certain amount of communication ability and to master corresponding linguistic elements, language skills, and relevant cultural knowledge through intensive training within a short time. The aim of the project is to improve students’ Chinese communication ability. A class will be arranged if a minimum of 10 students enroll in the program.

V. Entry Requirements, Application Materials, and Procedures
1. Entry Requirements
(1) General Requirements:
a. The applicant is not Chinese and has a valid foreign passport.
b. The applicant is in good health, and meets the health examination standards for applying for a student visa or residence permit in China.
c. The applicant is friendly to China, diligent and eager to learn, honest, law-abiding, has no record of violating school rules and regulations, respects the customs of Chinese people, and has no record of public security punishment or a criminal record.
d. If the applicant is an ethnic Chinese, and both or one parent of the applicant is a Chinese citizen or have acquired foreign nationality after emigration from Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, he/she must have obtained the foreign nationality for more than 4 years (inclusive) and provide record of actually living in the foreign country for more than 2 years within the last 4 years according to the requirements of Circular of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Recruitment of International Students by Chinese Institutions of Higher Education (〔2020〕 No. 12 Letter Issued by the Ministry of Education).

Language level If the applicant is applying for science and engineering majors taught in Chinese and has an HSK Level 4 of 180 or above, then the applicant may study the program directly. Those who do not reach the required level of Chinese language proficiency can apply for further study of Chinese language. Applicants can apply for professional study only after meeting the eligibility requirements. Applicants who have studied Chinese in an earlier academic period must submit the language certificate issued by the university, and the HSK scores will be exempted upon confirmation from our University. 3. The applicant applying for scholarship must meet corresponding age requirements. |

3. Accommodation Fee
International student apartments of different sizes and specifications are available. All apartments are furnished with independent washroom, bathroom, and network terminal (all rooms have air conditioner). The accommodation fee is RMB 5,000/student/year (on a twin-sharing basis).

Living expenses are approximately RMB 24,000/year (depends on actual requirement of each student). Expenses include daily costs for food, transportation, communication, etc.

一、学校简介
东莞理工学院是广东省唯一省市共建新型高水平理工科大学示范校,广东东莞的第一所公立普通本科院校,诺贝尔物理学奖获得者杨振宁博士任名誉校长。学校于1990年筹办,1992年4月成立,是教育部第一批“卓越工程师教育培养计划”实施高校,跻身地方高校“第一方阵”。
学校建立了以工学为重点,管理学、文学、理学、经济学、法学、教育学等多学科协调发展的学科专业体系。设有20个学院、59个本科专业,其中通信工程、软件工程、社会工作、电子信息工程、机械设计制造及其自动化、计算机科学与技术、应用化学、环境工程、工商管理、能源与动力工程、国际经济与贸易、工业工程、自动化、会计学14个专业入选国家级一流专业建设点,工程管理、汉语言文学、人力资源管理、法学、小学教育、英语、广播电视学、材料成型及控制工程、工业设计、高分子材料与工程、光电信息科学与工程、网络工程、土木工程、化学工程与工艺14个专业入选广东省一流专业建设点。
学校现有松山湖、莞城两个校区,共占地351英亩(含61英亩国际合作创新区)。有普通全日制在校学生近2万人,迄今为地方培养各类人才12万人,80%左右的毕业生留莞就业创业。自2016年5月开始招收国际学生以来,累计招收来自40多个国家的各类国际学生达400余人次。
二、 东莞简介
作为“粤港澳大湾区”先行者,东莞地处中国华南地区、广东省中南部、珠江口东岸,西北接广州市,南接深圳市,东北接惠州市,是珠三角中心城市之一、粤港澳大湾区城市之一,深圳都市圈城市之一 、为“广东四小虎”之首,是广东重要的交通枢纽和外贸口岸。
东莞属亚热带季风气候,日照充足,雨量充沛,年平均气温22.30 ℃,湖光山色、绿意盎然,森林覆盖率达36.7%,林地绿化率达98.7%,是名不虚传的国际花园城市。
三、 国际学生教育类型
1.硕士高等学历教育
包括学术学位和专业学位两种类型,学习方式为全日制,学习期限为3年,每年9月初开学。完成学校规定的培养要求、毕业论文通过答辩,可取得毕业证书,符合硕士学位授予条件者,授予学位证书。
2.本科高等学历教育
学习方式为全日制,学习期限为4年,每年9月初开学。完成教学方案规定的教学内容、毕业论文通过答辩,可取得毕业证书,符合学士学位规定条件者,授予学位证书。
3.语言培训
每年3月和9月开学,根据中文程度分班。
4.短期语言与中国文化项目
通过短期强化训练使学生能够完成一定量的交际任务项目的学习,掌握相应的语言要素、言语技能和相关文化知识,提高其汉语交际能力。满10人成班上课。

五、 入学条件、申请材料及流程
(一)入学条件
1. 基本条件:
(1)不具有中国国籍,持有效外国护照。
(2)身体健康,必须达到办理来华学习签证或居留证件的体检标准。
(3)对华友好,勤奋好学,品行端正,遵纪守法,无违反校规校纪行为的记录,尊重中国人民的风俗习惯,无治安处罚,无犯罪记录。
(4)华裔学习背景要求父母双方或一方为中国公民或从中国大陆(内地)、香港、澳门和台湾移民外国后取得外国国籍的,根据《教育部关于规范我高等学校接受国际学生有关工作的通知》(教外函〔2020〕12号),须入籍4年(含)以上,且最近4年之内有在外国实际居住2年以上的记录。
