Recently, AMBA & BGA held the online presentation ceremony of The AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2022. The School of Economics and Management, DGUT won the silver award in the fierce competition for the BGA Business School Impact Award.
There were 12 awards under the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2022, and more than 470 AMBA & BGA members applied for these awards. Experts from around the world reviewed the applications. The AMBA & BGA members in China actively participated, and 11 members, including Shanghai Jiaotong University, Central South University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, emerged as finalists, while 5 members won awards (1 gold award, 1 silver award, and 3 bronze awards). The School of Economics and Management, DGUT won the silver award in the BGA Business School Impact Award.
Before the presentation ceremony, Liu Jiyun, the dean of the School of Economics and Management, DGUT was invited to share the school’s education experience, features, and shortlisted projects in the “2022 Chinese AMBA & BGA Business Schools Best Practices Webinar Excellence Awards and Capacity Building.” This award acknowledges the School of Economics and Management’s talent education efforts, which combines peer education, curriculum ideology and politics with the concept of sustainable development of Environment, Society and Governance (ESG) according to DGUT’s “10+2” education system. It is also a useful attempt to fulfill the original mission of educating talents for the Party and the country, keeping in mind the background of new liberal arts and combining it with the economic and social development needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
With a foothold in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and with roots in Dongguan, the School of Economics and Management trains applied research-oriented business talents from the world of engineering, who possess strong social responsibility and innovative spirit. It has provided nearly 10,000 outstanding graduates to society, with employment rate of more than 99%, over the years. The School of Economics and Management has a professional master’s degree program in international business and co-educates doctoral students with the University of Nottingham. The School is actively promoting the development of the national first-class undergraduate program of Business Administration, and three first-class undergraduate programs of International Economics and Trade, Human Resource Management, and Accounting in Guangdong Province.
The School has always attached importance to international education. It is currently applying for BGA and AACSB international certifications and is conducting short-term exchange programs with more than 10 foreign universities such as University of Toronto and Saint Mary's University in Canada, University of the West of England in the UK, University of New Mexico in the USA, and Universidad Complutense in Spain. Several students have been enrolled as postgraduate students by Johns Hopkins University, University of Edinburgh, University of Queensland, Monash University, University of Glasgow, and University of Sheffield, among others.
The School of Economics and Management attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education and has achieved good performance by promoting learning through competitions. In the past three years, students of the School of Economics and Management have participated in national, provincial, and municipal disciplinary competitions, winning more than 100 awards, including the silver award in the National Finals of China College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the gold award in the Guangdong Province “Internet +” Entrepreneurship Competition, the first prize in the Guangdong Province Challenge Cup, “Oriental Fortune Cup” National Financial Elite Challenge Competition for College Students, National Economic Decision-Making Virtual Simulation Experiment Competition for Colleges and Universities, etc.
