The University of Macau hosted the 2022 Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao University Alliance Annual Meeting and Presidents Forum on January 25th, 2023. The President of DGUT Ma Hongwei, was extended an invitation to participate online.
The theme of this Forum was "Implementing the National Education Digitalization Strategy and Driving the Construction of High-level Talents Highland" and nearly 200 presidents, department leaders, and functional department heads from 42 member universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao were invited to attend.
The Presidents Forum is divided into two topics: "Strengthening the Synergy Effect of Alliance and Driving the Construction of High-level Talents Highland" and "Leveraging Strengths of Cooperation in the Bay Area and Implementing the National Education Digitalization Strategy." President Ma Hongwei was asked to make a keynote address titled "Digital Empowerment to Create a New Ecology of Smart education in the Bay Area." President Ma stated that the DGUT places a high value on informatization development, naming the development of a smart education service management system as one of "four first-class systems," with multiple applications evaluated as excellent and innovative application cases of national education management informatization application. Furthermore, President Ma made three suggestions at the Meeting. With the deepening of the Greater Bay Area education integration process, the universities in the Alliance should make full use of the "fertile soil" of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area integration and development, and provide kinetic energy for the growth of teachers and students with teaching and research as the guide; focus on sharing and inject vitality into digital transformation; and use technology as a means to gather resources for innovation. As a result, we need to collaborate to design an intelligent learning space with deep integration of time and space and teaching, offline and online virtual and real integration, and scene-based, experiential, and immersive teaching. Furthermore, we need to create a multi-field, multi-level, and multi-mode innovation cooperation system, strengthen coordination and linkage with a focus on research and development, and accelerate the development of a new ecosystem of smart education in the Bay Area with international competitiveness and influence.
