On October 26, a delegation led by Xie Yongqiang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Xu Jian, Vice President of the University of Macau, Peng Xiangyang, Deputy Director of the Department of Economy of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, and other representatives of the Macao business circle, scientific circle, and institutions of higher learning visited DGUT to conduct a study. Ma Hongwei, Vice Secretary and President of DGUT, Li Wenfang, Vice President of DGUT, and heads of relevant functional departments and secondary colleges attended this study symposium.
On behalf of DGUT, Ma Hongwei welcomed the Macao delegation to the symposium and gave a thorough overview of the situation surrounding the development of DGUT's new high-level science and engineering university model, as well as the advancements made in the development of outstanding engineering talent and the collaboration between the government, industry, university, and research.
Xie Yongqiang praised DGUT’s accomplishments in the creation of a new high-level science and engineering university, and expressed hoped that, in light of the growth of the Hengqin Guangdong Macao in-depth cooperation zone, collaboration between universities and businesses in Macao and DGUT could be bolstered in the areas of education, science, and technology as well as other areas.
Xu Jian introduced the State Key Laboratory for Analog and Mixed Signal VLSI at the University of Macau, and the State Key Laboratory for the Quality Research of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly built by the University of Macau and the Macau University of Science and Technology. He expressed the expectation that Macao will one day transcend its geographical boundaries and quickly join the growth of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
Peng Xiangyang said that the Central People's Government Liaison Office in Macao would be willing to take the lead in supporting the collaboration between DGUT and universities in Macao. He expressed the hope that DGUT can strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the University of Macau and the Macau University of Science and Technology.
The appropriate person in charge of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of DGUT stated that this study has effectively improved understanding of DGUT in Macao universities, political, and business circles, enhanced DGUT's recognition in Macao's education, science, and technology fields, and laid a good foundation for encouraging academic exchanges, discipline docking, and scientific research cooperation with Macao in the future.
