On January 12th, 2022, the Working Committee of Foreign Culture and Education Experts in Colleges and Universities of Guangdong Institute of Higher Education held its 2021 annual work summation meeting and training conference for foreign experts. Awards for international exchange and cooperation in 2021 were presented at this event. As one of the 8 winning universities in Guangdong Province, DGUT was awarded the “Advanced Unit of International Exchange and Cooperation among Colleges and Universities in Guangdong” title, which it has now won for two consecutive years. In addition, Miao Qing from DGUT won the Outstanding Individual Award of 2021, and Lim Ziyian (foreign teacher from Malaysia) won the “2021 International Cooperation Award for Foreign Experts in Colleges and Universities.”
In recent years, under the guidance of competent departments and DGUT’s mature leadership, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office has comprehensively implemented the spirit of the third congress of party representatives. It has comprehensively promoted the internationalization strategy by fully cooperating with the University’s secondary organizations to promote local internationalization, and jointly overcome the difficulties and challenges that have emerged due to COVID-19. This was done by strictly implementing the foreign epidemic prevention and control policies. Furthermore, it has made several achievements, including continued increase in the number of domestic and overseas cooperative universities, steadily expanded doctoral joint education programs, successfully held two sessions of Global Academic Week, and actively explored new ways to build international education in the post-epidemic era. In addition, it actively organized and promoted various preparation and approval related work to have City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) as the sponsor, thereby contributing to the development of a model university that focuses on new high-level science and engineering.
