Visit to DGUT by Prof. Aleksander Bobko, Vice Minister of Poland Ministry of Science and Higher Education

On December 8, Prof. Aleksander Bobko, Vice Minister of the Poland Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and his colleagues paid a visit to the Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT). Cheng Hongbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of DGUT, Yang Minlin, Vice President of DGUT and Yang Jing, Associate Inspector of Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau received our guests warmly and held meetings with them.

Cheng Hongbo extended his warmest welcome to the visit by the team of delegates from Poland and gave an introduction of the basic information of DGUT and the university’s construction. He said that Dongguan is an innovative city with a complete industry system. The DGUT, as a key university for development in Dongguan, will carry out high-quality talent cultivation led by the demand in the advanced manufacturing industry, and strives to build the DGUT into a high-level science and engineering university with outstanding achievements in special applied engineering courses and technical services. He remarked that the DGUT has established close cooperation relationship with 41 renowned universities in 21 countries and regions, and has established several innovation centers and talent service stations in Australia and Russia. The DGUT is expected to strengthen cooperation and exchange with the Poland Ministry of Science and Higher Education, universities and scientific research institutions in Poland through the visit by Prof. Aleksander Bobko to expand the areas of cooperation and exchange as well as promote joint development of the institutions. The DGUT expects to continue strengthening exchange on education, technology, and culture etc. on the original basis of cooperation to provide more opportunities for exchange between teachers and students as well as establish a platform for cooperation in scientific and technological research and development and the transformation of achievements to accelerate the industrialization process.

Prof. Aleksander Bobko congratulated the DGUT on its achievements made and recognized the university’s investment in and the results it achieved in scientific research. He said that during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Poland last June, the leaders of both countries expressed their concordant wishes for all-round cooperation in the areas of education and science and technology. The Poland Ministry of Science and Higher Education would like to establish a long-term and stable cooperation relationship with the Chinese universities, which includes the DGUT, to promote cultural exchange between the two countries. He added that he is pleased to further promote bilateral relations through supporting the DGUT to establish a science and technology center and a center for cooperation and exchange with Polish universities such as the University of Rzeszow.

Prof. Bogdan Wierzbiński, Vice Dean of College of Economic and Management of the University of Rzeszow remarked that he was deeply impressed by DGUT students’ active minds during his short visit to the DGUT. He believes that further understanding between the students of both parties and the establishment of friendly cooperative relations between the teachers of both parties are conducive to the promotion of bilateral cooperation to a higher level.
