China-Latin America Joint Laboratory of Clean Energy and Climate Change Seminar on Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Industry Development 2017 in Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT)

November 4, 2017- November 6, 2017, The Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Industry Development 2017 was held at the Conference Center of DGUT. There were 33 trainees coming from 16 different countries, such as Cuba, Mexico, and Kenya joined the seminar.


The seminar was hosted by the Department of Climate Change of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of People’s Republic of China, and organized by Tsinghua University-China-Latin America Joint Laboratory of Clean Energy and Climate Change and Dongguan University of Technology. The trainees are major officials, experts, and technicians on climate change area. The main purpose of this seminar is to strengthen the economy and technology cooperation among developing countries.


November 4th to November 5th, trainees attended lectures at Conference Center. On November 6th, Vice President of DGUT, Dr. YANG Minlin attended the seminar and delivered a speech. YANG introduced the history and overall development of DGUT, and the construction of high-level science and technology university. XU Yongjun, Dean of School of Chemical Engineer and Energy Technology, gave a presentation on the scientific researches and development of DGUT in clean energy. HUANG Simin Associate professor of School of Chemical and Energy Technology introduced “Guangdong Province Key Laboratory of Distributed Energy System” and Application Research & Achievement Transformation Platform. After the meeting, Associate Professor CHEN Baiman guide the trainees to visit Guandong Province Key Laboratory of Distributed Energy System, and discussed the possibilities on research collaboration, joint-post graduate program, visiting professors program and etc.



This seminar is the first time for DGUT to host such large scale group of Latin-American experts for international communication and cooperation. This escalates the international advancement of construction of high-level science and technology university strategy plan.


On October 22, 2017, ESCUELA SUPERIOR POLITECNICA DE CHIMBORAZO (ESPOCH) delegations arrived at DGUT for three weeks international research cooperation. Prof. Hugo Moreno Director of Research Institute of ESPOCH, Prof. Miguel Tasambay, Prof. Jose Munoz had in-depth discussions on South-South low carbon technology programs, Sino-Latin American exchange programs, joint-application for national “Sino-Latin American Young scientist program.” The delegation has also discussed about the collaboration on solar energy and food chemical programs.


DGUT plans to send off delegations to ESPOCH on June, 2018, in order to forward the international collaboration program.
